What is a kamado style grill and what are they used for?
The kamado style grill was introduced over 3,000 years ago in Asia. In China they started out as clay grills and were eventually made into ceramic grills. The modern kamado style grill was introduced in the US after World War II. “Kamado” in Japanese means “stove” or “cooking range”. The modern kamado is known as a ceramic grill.
Kamado style grills can be used for smoking, baking, roasting, and grilling. They are great at holding heat and smoke inside which has an incredible impact on the food’s flavor. After reaching the right cooking temperature, all you have to do is properly control the temperature thanks to the air vents located on the top and the bottom of the grill.
