Cold Weather Alert: Hot Tub & Swim Spa Power Outage Tips

If the power goes out, these 3 steps can help protect your spa from freeze damage—and get you back up safely once power returns.

#1 - Quick 60-Second Checklist
(Power Outage)

If the power goes out—do this first

Keep the cover closed and fully latched. Your insulated cover is designed to hold heat for hours.

Do not drain the spa. A full unit holds heat better and is less susceptible to freeze damage than an empty one.

Avoid opening the cover. Every peek dumps heat fast—especially on swim spas.

#2 - If the Outage Is Extended
(24+ Hours / Extreme Cold)

If the outage lasts longer (24+ hours in extreme cold)

Add extra insulation on top of the closed cover (blankets/towels/tarp).

Swim spas: minimizing heat loss is critical due to larger water volume.

If needed, you may carefully add a small amount of warm (not boiling) water to help maintain temperature.

#3 - Once Power Is Restored

When the power comes back on

Confirm the system powers back on normally and allow time for the water to reheat.

If you see error messages, unusual sounds, or circulation issues, stop use and contact us.
